The Taraco Peninsula

The Taraco Peninsula is an East-West trending spit of land projecting into Lake Wiñaymarka, the southern arm of Late Titicaca (Figure 2.1). It is located within the modern state of Bolivia, though its western tip is less than 4 km from the Peruvian border. Administratively, it pertains to Canton Taraco, Provincia Ingavi, and the Department of La Paz. The principal town is Taraco, though a smaller town, Santa Rosa, is located on the tip of the peninsula.
