Architectural evolution

As mentioned in the introduction to this chapter, there is evidence for a gradual and continuous increase in the elaboration and scale of public architecture on the Taraco Peninsula during the Middle Formative Period. We have a fair grasp of the sequence at Chiripa, so I will take it to be representative of similar sites on the peninsula.[*]
