Excavations and Current Work Introduction

The work of the Taraco Archaeological Project is primarily based in the finding (survey), excavation, and analysis of Formative through Tiwanaku era sites. We have broken the bulk of this information down into three primary categories: the survey of the Taraco peninsula completed by Dr. Matthew S. Bandy, excavations at the site of Chiripa directed by professor Christine A. Hastorf, and excavations at the site of Alto Pukara in the town of Cala Cala directed by Rob Beck.
